NVAO receives Indonesian ministry of Education

A delegation of the Directorate General for Quality Improvement of Teachers and Education Personnel of the Ministry of National Education of Indonesia visited NVAO on 21 November 2006. The Ministry wanted to hear about the European experiences with accreditation of education programmes for teaching personnel. NVAO gave a presentation on the accreditation system in the Netherlands and Flanders and the activities of NVAO. 

As to the accreditation of education programmes for teachers, the Ministry is studying the Dutch-Flemish, German and French systems.  Indonesia wants to set up a certification system for the 2.7 million teachers employed in primary and secondary education and a quality assurance system for their education programmes for teachers. The delegation expressed their hope to work more closely with the European partners in order to improve their quality assurance system.
